The two fighters have drawn immense attention due to their ongoing back-and-forth over the past several months. Despite a potential title unification bout between the two lightweight champions being one of boxing’s most anticipated showdowns, they have yet to settle their differences.

Fresh off a second title defense, Stevenson made his debut on a Riyadh Season card, stopping Josh Padley in the ninth round. Many see this as a statement win, strengthening his case for a showdown with ‘Tank’ Davis. However, the Baltimorean remains on the fence. Now that Davis is wrapping up his first fight of the year – having set his sights on entering the ring three times in 2024 – hope has been reignited that the long-awaited clash with Stevenson could finally materialize.

Shakur Stevenson FRONT ROW at the Gervonta Davis FIGHT‼️😳,” read a tweet from boxing enthusiast @Hassanwellss. The post featured a short clip of Stevenson sitting ringside, wearing dark glasses and appearing fully engrossed in the action inside the ring.

In another video, while speaking with a reporter, Shakur Stevenson described the fight between Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach Jr. as a ’50/50′ affair. The WBC title holder made his presence known after previously commenting on a post that questioned ‘Tank’s’ purported claim that his team had extended a contract to Stevenson’s camp.

Shakur Stevenson vehemently denied the claim, and his stance has remained unchanged since he first addressed the issue with Naji Chill in January. What may have strengthened his position was Stephen Espinoza’s statement: “There was never a contract. I never said there was a contract.

Despite Gervonta Davis’ stated intentions to retire by the end of the year, hope remains that the two superstars will finally clash in a historic event.

Shakur Stevenson vs. Gervonta Davis: The push for a unified championship battle

It has been two years since the lightweight division had an undisputed champion. Teofimo Lopez held the unified championship in 2020. It’s high time the 135-pound division sees another dominant champion. To that end, Keyshawn Davis has now joined the race.

Only time will tell whether he will move past his reluctance to fight his close friend, Shakur Stevenson. Meanwhile, the whereabouts of IBF champion Vasyl Lomachenko remain uncertain. For this division to move forward, it’s up to Davis, Stevenson, and ‘The Businessman’ Davis to take action.

The last time Stevenson and Davis came close to finalizing a fight, the talks fizzled out. What followed was a fresh barrage of verbal blows. While Stevenson has openly expressed interest in facing Davis, the latter has continued to cast doubt on the Newark native’s credentials.

It’s time to put aside the differences and give fans the fight they’ve been waiting for.
