Mike Tyson started his reading journey back in 1992, during the time of his imprisonment. He also revealed that he used to keep a dictionary beside him so that he could look up all the words he didn’t know. There have been numerous times when Tyson has talked about his love for history, philosophy, and black literature. One of his favorite books is ‘The Epic of Gilgamesh’ which is a collection of poems about the great heroes of the past like Hercules. On the other hand, Tyson has also talked about his favorite philosopher, Friedrich Nietzsche. “He’s just insane. You have to have an IQ of at least 300 to truly understand him,” Tyson said.
So, it’s safe to say that Tyson is a history buff. Recently, ‘Iron Mike’ proved his immense knowledge of historical rituals. In the latest episode of Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, it took a dark turn as ‘Kid Dynamite’ spoke about how humans’ longing for their youth made them do some bizarre things.

Mike Tyson reveals a strange ritual performed back in the old days
The co-host of the show, Sebastian Joseph-Day commended the guest of their episode, Dr. Abhinav Gautam, for his great work in medical science. He also showed his fascination with the usage of the placenta in the Connective Tissue Restoration procedure. Tyson also intervened and added that there are a lot of people who eat the placenta because that’s how important it really is.
Gautam agreed to Tyson’s claim and stated that he saw it as a hoax at first. But then he found out there are a lot of animals who eat the placenta after the birth of their child, to restore their iron storage. So Gautam believes it’s a good idea to consume it. Tyson interrupted the doctor and spoke about the experiment done with mice’s platelets.
He said, “You know if you take, I didn’t mean to interrupt, if you take young mice’s platelet and put it in an old mice’s platelet it reverses the age.” Then he supported his statement with a peculiar ritual performed during the 18th and 19th centuries, to replenish the youth. Tyson narrated, “That’s why back in the old days witches will take a bunch of young virgin girls and bathe in their blood. And they believed that brought them back to the youth which is Queens, you know what I mean.”
So he said that they used to kill a lot of virgins to be young again. Well, this is a Hungarian legend that gained traction post the infamous case of Elizabeth Báthory. Anyway, Tyson wasn’t bluffing when he was talking about such a ceremony. Well, his love for history doesn’t only remain confined to interesting facts and references. Instead, he also mentioned the name of the one great warrior in the past, he wishes to go toe-to-toe.
Tyson wants to fight against the greatest warrior ever
Back in 2021, the Lightweight star of boxing, Ryan Garcia, hopped on one of the Hotboxin’ episodes. And Garcia hit ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ with a creative question, where he wanted to know who’d Tyson want to fight in history.
Tyson thought for a split second and replied, “Achilles“. This surprised Garcia, as he expected a name of a legendary boxer, like George Foreman or Muhammad Ali.

But Tyson explained, “I think he was close to God as possible like you n***. You gotta face these guys if it’s not physical, emotionally, spiritually.” He’s always been curious about the past warriors and their way of thinking. He also found himself fascinated by the ‘killer’ mentality of Bruce Lee. Interestingly, the more he read about these soldiers, the more aligned he found himself with them.
