Frank Bruno held the WBC Heavyweight championship belt for the first time on September 2 1995 after his victory over Oliver McCall. With millions of Brits chanting his name, Bruno was at the pinnacle of the world. He finally held a title after his fourth attempt. It was an iconic night, however, its grandeur didn’t persist over the years. Six years later, Frank Bruno and his wife Laura split up after 20 years of marriage. This left a great impact on Bruno’s mental health, and from this point on, he developed bipolar disorder.

During his time as a boxer, Bruno had faced ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’, Mike Tyson but his toughest fight was the one he fought outside the ring. He struggled for years to deal with bipolar disorder and depression. Currently, he believes that his condition is quite stable. Bruno even started The Frank Bruno Foundation in 2017, to raise mental health awareness. Recently, he had attended a lunch event for this sole purpose.

This validated their hard work and let them know that they were working in the right direction. $10 million worth Bruno, recently, made a post on X. He updated his fans about the recent lunch event to raise money for the Foundation. He wrote, “Another wonderful lunch event in Tunbridge Wells after a great night in Birmingham with money raised for my foundation.” Also, he stated that he’d be going back to his hometown, Wandsworth, the next day. Bruno would be there for his latest book ‘Frank Bruno: 60 Years a Fighter’ book-signing event. Besides this, there are times when he also speaks about real-life cases happening around the world.

In the end, he talked about how it was a great week for awareness. But it’s to be seen whether it was effective or not. He wrote, “Mental Health awareness this week has certainly as far as I am concerned been brought to people’s attention but words & actions are 2 different things lets see if there is any actual improvement to Mental Health services.” This line of work is really important for him, as he’s faced the plight of depression himself firsthand.
