Gennady Golovkin is looking to remain active in 2021. He has targeted a massive unification bout. Following a successful title defense over Kamil Szeremeta in 2020, it’s time for him to hunt down the bigger names.
Hence, ‘GGG’ might lock horns with WBA titleholder Ryota Murata on December 31. Nothing is official as of now, but there have been certain developments to the idea. Per World Boxing News’ Dan Rafael, Matchroom Kingpin Eddie Hearn had already revealed the idea during the Canelo vs Saunders fight week.
Besides, it is also reported, Golovkin’s team has already advanced the contractual works with Teiken Promotions, the co-promoter of Ryota Murata. So, the middleweight division can see a big unification clash this year. Although December is the most viable period, the fight can also take place in Summer. Additionally, Golovkin can appear in one more fight before the unification bout.

“He Can’t Wait to Fight” – Jonathan Banks Reveals What’s Next for Gennady Golovkin
Gennady Golovkin vs Ryoto Murata Preview,
Ryota Murata has had a commendable time in the middleweight division, boasting of the WBA title. The Japanese pugilist, who holds a record of 16-2, has avenged both his losses in the respective re-matches. That said, Murata has beaten everyone he has ever faced.
However, his resume still lacks experience, and GGG’s mighty record of 41-1-1 is still way ahead. But boxing isn’t a game of numbers and Murata will always have his chances to win. Though Gennady Golovkin will suffer some setbacks in height and reach, his sheer experience and activity can play a pivotal role.
