For a growing-up daughter, her dad is the first strong male figure she comes across. A healthy father-daughter relationship can have a profound effect on a girl’s sense of agency and self-assurance. For one, 23-year-old Yaya Mayweather would definitely agree with these facts. Probably no other individual may have had the kind of influence and impact on her life as her father, Floyd Mayweather Jr., has had.

Yaya Mayweather turned 23 this year. However, the mother of Kentrell Gaulden Jr. still misses her father. She makes it a point to remind everyone how she misses him. Through her Instagram story, that’s what she did early today, penning a short but heartwarming message. That how close she is to her father doesn’t need anyone’s validation. Millions of fans saw her joining her father and son as the undefeated former champion made his ring entry to fight John Gotti III in June this year.

So tagging her father, Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s Instagram account, Yaya Mayweather wrote, “I missed him!” Born on May 20, 2000, Iyanna Mayweather is the boxing great’s eldest daughter. The only child of Mayweather Jr. and Melissa Brim (he adopted Brim’s son Devion Cromwell from a past relationship), she reportedly completed her schooling when she was 15. Taking after her half-brother, Koraun Mayweather, Yaya too decided to dabble in music. Her single ‘Oh Okay‘ was released in 2018. The following year, she started going out with NBA YoungBoy, a rapper. In January 2021, the couple welcomed their son, Kentrell Gaulden Jr. Last year, she pleaded guilty to a 2020 case in which she reportedly stabbed YoungBoy’s baby mama. According to available information, Yaya Mayweather received a six-year probation sentence. Nevertheless, she would remain free from incarceration due to the plea agreement.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Ring a Ring o’ Roses

As far as her father is concerned, he fought twice this year. The first exhibition bout took place against Aaron Chalmer in London’s O2 Arena on February 25, a day after he celebrated his forty-sixth birthday. The non-scoring match barely made it to the headlines. However, it was the second fight against John Gotti III on June 2 that became news, probably more than it had bargained for.

In the sixth round, the referee halted the bout at the FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Florida. Subsequently, team members from both sides stormed the ring, resulting in a free-for-all. Later reports revealed that several altercations ensued in both the audience and the area behind the scenes. Now, seemingly, Mayweather Jr. is on the hunt for the next opponent. Though talks of a rematch with John Gotti III have surfaced.
