In the entirety of his career, Mike Tyson has been involved in his fair share of controversies. Well, one of the most renowned ones is his relationship with his former promoter, Don King. The duo couldn’t see eye-to-eye when the conversation touched on the topic of financial dealings. Eventually, there was so much bad blood between the two, that Tyson sued Don King accusing him of defrauding, and filed a lawsuit of $100 million against him. In the end, he could only manage to get $14 million out of the veteran promoter’s pocket.
Since then Tyson has been a big advocate of boxers having more control of their careers, and not handing over the financial reins to their promoters. Well, in the recent episode of Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, the famous NFL player also drew similarities between such situations with the authorities in his sport as well.

Mike Tyson reveals the harsh reality of big corporations dealing with athletes’ brand image
The former Pittsburgh Steelers Wide Receiver, Antonio Brown, talked about how the corporations are trying to rip off the disability money from the players. Even the doctors assigned deny any kind of issue with the athlete and thus make up the narrative that the whole thing is a hoax. At this, Tyson couldn’t stay silent and interrupted.
Mike Tyson said, “The name of the game is to make more money off yourself so they don’t make all the money off of you.” Brown agreed to this mindset and revealed that he did the same thing when he took retirement from the game. He said, “Exactly, when I walked off the field I took ownership for making money off myself.”
Tyson lives by this method, and for that reason, he expressed his distress when he sat down with the stakeholders of Skill Challenge Promotions, during the press conference of Jake Paul and Tommy Fury. Let’s hear what Tyson had to say about this.

Mike Tyson voices his belief that “everybody works for the fighter”
During the Paul-Fury press conference, Mike Tyson stated that the fighter should have control over the payouts in the business of boxing. The other involved in the boxing business should be taken care of only after the fighter is handsomely paid for the bout.
‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ said, “You [fighter] should have his money, paying him because he works for you. Everybody works for the fighter. The fighter’s the boss.” So, Tyson doesn’t like the present scenario that’s happening in boxing.
