In the span of 20 years of his boxing career, Mike Tyson has generated a massive wealth of an estimated $400 million. Well, he gradually lost everything, and in 2003, he declared bankruptcy with a $23 million debt. By 2018, Tyson’s resilience helped him overcome this rough patch and brought his net worth to a comfortable $3 million. After being bankrupt, Tyson stood on his feet again as he appeared in a bunch of movies and TV shows like ‘Hangover‘ and ‘The Last O.G.‘, which gave him a bit of financial support.

Then he started his own podcast, Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, and his cannabis company, Tyson 2.0. Moreover, he also has a boxing gloves company, Tyson Pro. So, currently, he’s stable and quite smart with his money unlike before. Despite going through such a tough time, Tyson still emphasized the importance of being emotionally rich over being financially rich.

In the recent episode of Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, Nick Cannon joined the show as a cast. In the wide range of topics, Cannon talked about how money can mask the sheet of illusion in front of the eyes, and people can get confused by the “fake sh*t”.

He also added, “That’s really what it is, that’s what society has designed for not let you see the greatness that everything is.” After this, Tyson who has had the most experience with money on the panel, gave his two cents about rich people. He said, “Some people can just be financially bankrupt, there’s other people that are emotionally bankrupt, have a lot of physical money.

Cannon nodded in agreement and went ahead to quote a famous singer, Bob Marley, “I met a poor man one time all he had was money.” Well, this is not the first time Tyson has spoken about money in a degrading manner. In the past, he’s also been truthful about the reason behind going broke. Just a few episodes ago, Tyson stated how fame has always been more important for him than money.

In one of the previous episodes of the podcast, Terence Crawford had a conversation with Mike Tyson about fame and money. Terence Crawford explained how he’s never cared about fame, but he always cares about the cheque that he’s receiving. He knows he’s a great boxer, and doesn’t require fame to validate that.

On the other, ‘Kid Dynamite’ had a different take on this matter. He said in surprise, “Really? I am the total opposite. I am such an insecure f**k. You can keep the money. Tell me I am the greatest ever.” So, from the beginning, he has never given much value to money. This is why Mike has emerged stronger despite all the curveballs that life has thrown his way.
