‘Two Tanks’ Ohara Davies is all set to fight Ismael Barroso for the WBA super lightweight title on Saturday, January 6. The main event on the card is the match between Vergil Ortiz Jr. and Fredrick Lawson. Davies and Barroso were initially scheduled to meet on December 2. However, their fight was postponed due to visa issues.

Hours before his match against Barroso, FightHubTV asked Davies if he plans to go up against Roland0 Romero next. His response was more or less a dig at Romero. In the clip which they posted on their official Instagram page, Davies talked much about why he will not be fighting Romero. Let us dwell deeper and find out what he said.

The clip featured the interviewer asking if there is a possibility of Davies fighting Rolly Romero. Davies straight up denied saying, “Probably not, mate, he’s a fat c*nt right now. He’s weighing about 190 pounds so, he’s probably just going to give the belt up and I’d fight someone else for it.” Davies went on to speak about how Romero is unable to handle himself with all the fame and the money he has received.

Davies proceeded to say, “He can’t handle it. Sometimes people, they can’t handle it, they get a bit of money, a bit of fame, a bit of success, and they can’t handle it… He’s in a pretty immature phase of life. I’ll still knock him out. He ain’t nothing special. He’s quite basic,” calling Romero’s style generic and predictable.

Davies then brought up how Romero was trying to replicate Floyd Mayweather’s famous shoulder roll in his last fight, but kept failing. Davies said, “Have your hands up coz you’re not Floyd. Floyd is Floyd. If you can’t do the shoulder roll properly, stop it,” asking Romero to stop trying to replicate someone as great as Mayweather while failing at it, regardless.

The fight between Davies and Barroso comes hand-in-hand with a 9-year age difference. However, Davies has said he is not concerned about Barroso’s age. He said, “I’m not looking at the age because he’s kept himself in shape. He’s kept himself in shape. A lot of people his age, they let themselves go and their body shuts down on them. They can’t perform. Ismael Barroso, he still performs, and we saw that in his last fight.”

Barroso was winning on all three scorecards against the current WBA super lightweight champion Rolando Romero. Their fight was prematurely stopped in the ninth round, causing widespread confusion. Barosso even managed to drop Romero in the third round. His performance in the last fight has indeed proven that his age is not a big deal when it comes to his boxing skills.
