In a buildup to his upcoming bout with Otto Wallin in Riyadh on December 23, Anthony Joshua‘s feud with fellow boxer Deontay Wilder remains a hot topic. Both are set to feature on the same DAZN card. There’s anticipation for a 2024 clash between Joshua and Wilder. Their history is marred by failed negotiations. However, at the moment, another rivalry is becoming the talk of the town.

Their rivalry was evident at the London press event for the December 23 Day of Reckoning event. A face-off between them was electric, hinting at the intensity of a potential future fight. However, the one who stole the show with his trash talk was none other than Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller, who is set to face Daniel Dubois as the undercard for the event. It seems Big Baby is at it and this time against AJ. A video of the two of them going off at one another at a Saudi Hotel is going viral and for all the right reasons.

Four years after their anticipated clash was derailed due to Miller’s failed drug tests, Anthony Joshua and Jarrell Miller were once again seen going off at one another. Miller, known for his provocative trash talk, stated to AJ, “I knew I smelled p***y.” In response, Joshua, maintaining his composure, remarked that Miller was “beneath” him and not worthy of his attention.

Their verbal sparring didn’t end there. Joshua emphasized his track record, challenging Miller with, “Look at my record, who have I ducked?”. Miller, not one to back down, mentioned Joshua’s surprise loss to Andy Ruiz Jr., suggesting he could do the same. But Joshua remained unfazed, asserting his superiority: “I’m on a different level to you.”, causing Miller to reply, “You’re still a b***h.”

The two were then separated by their respective teams and the security staff. As he went out, AJ tried to get in a few last words. “Me and you are not on the same level, and where you are in your career, I don’t need to fight you. I’m hosting you. Welcome to my show. Welcome to my show, little b****. You’re working for me on Saturday night! Humble yourself. I’m still your landlord, don’t forget that,” declared AJ, while Big Baby kept hurling curses at him.

The upcoming fight card promises more excitement with heavyweight matchups like Deontay Wilder vs. Joseph Parker. But all eyes will be on the renewed animosity between Joshua and Miller. As the saying goes, old rivalries die hard.

What is the reason for the intense rivalry?

In April 2019, the boxing world was thrown into disarray when Jarrell Miller was pulled from his fight against Anthony Joshua. This was a significant blow, especially for Matchroom Boxing and DAZN, who had vested interests in Joshua’s U.S. debut. Miller’s positive drug tests, including for GW501516 and EPO, were the culprits.

Reflecting on an interview with Miller, he confidently stated, “I’ll stop AJ inside seven rounds.” However, it was all for naught and the bout was canceled. Stepping into the void left by Miller was Andy Ruiz. Ruiz’s relentless pressure led to Joshua’s downfall, and although their rematch six months later saw Joshua reclaim his titles with a more strategic approach, things were never the same for AJ. Meanwhile, for Big Baby, despite a subsequent six-month ban by the WBA after testing positive again, his return in 2022 was lackluster, with victories over lesser opponents.

My passion for sweet science began at the tender age of 12, a gift from my father who introduced me to the legendary persona of Muhammad Ali. In my heart, 'The Rumble in the Jungle' still remains to be the pinnacle of sporting history. Over the years, my fervor for boxing remained intact, although life's commitments sometimes deviated me from being a hardcore fan of the sport.
