Biaggio Ali Walsh, Muhammad Ali‘s grandson, is on the brink of making it big in the Professional Fighters League (PFL). So is Jake Paul, who is slated to make his grand debut in the MMA league in the fourth quarter of 2024. Will these heavily celebrated boxing personalities ever face off in the smart cage? 25-year-old Ali has a detailed answer to substantiate his “No.”

Noah Lack sought Walsh’s views on Jake Paul in the exclusive conversation they had for EssentiallySports FanCast. Walsh defended Paul and his brother, Logan, for the flak they get about being influencer-fighters. Calling them “marketing geniuses,” he argued that nobody can deny Paul’s claim of being a professional boxer. However, Lack, with his knack for scooping out revelations from his guests, quizzed Walsh if he would be willing to fight Jake Paul under the PFL. In response, the rising fighter cited weight issues to back his denial.

Why won’t Biaggio Ali Walsh fight Jake Paul?

“See, it doesn’t make sense to me, and the reason being is, [Jake Paul] fights at 185, so he cuts down to 185, I fight at 155, so weight-wise it doesn’t make any sense,” noted Biaggio Ali Walsh during the EssentiallySports Exclusive Interview. Answering the host’s query on the possibility of “Problem Child” and Walsh seeing each other in the cage, the latter further noted, “If he were to fight an MMA, he should fight at middleweight, which would be at 185. That would make a lot more sense. You know, I think he’s been boxing at 185 too. You know, when I fight, I fight at 155 because I walk around at 76.”

Walsh’s comments come after Jake Paul went on record to voice his interest in fighting not just Biaggio but also his boxer brother, Nico Ali Walsh. In April this year, at the PFL 2, Biaggio went against lightweight Isaiah Figueroa, winning the fight via TKO. Meanwhile, Jake Paul joined Wade Plemons’s watchalong for the event, wherein he was asked if he’d like to fight either of the Ali brothers. Not one to ever back out of a fight, Paul said, “Just erase them all, I’m down.” While Biaggio is a rising name in the MMA space, his brother, Nico has an 8-1 boxing record.

Would Walsh be open to going up the weights to fight Paul? The fighter explained in the Exclusive Interview with Essentially Sports that even if he went up the weight significantly, he would not be able to fight per his caliber as the weight change would slow him down. Extending this argument to Paul, he also noted that Paul too would not be open to dropping to 155 pounds, given how that would impact his ability to fight effectively. Walsh remarked, “So that fight, just doesn’t make sense.”

It seems very unlikely that Paul and Walsh would ever clash in the cage. With the massive weight difference hindering this potential headliner, Walsh has clarified that the fight might not happen until the gap exists. Meanwhile, Paul will be going for his tenth boxing stint in early March 2024 with an undisclosed opponent. Biaggio Ali Walsh on the other hand is expected to take his next PFL fight in February.
