“If There Was, I Wish, I Could…”: Nate Diaz Remains Brutally Honest About “Fight Fixing” Allegations Against Jake Paul

The stakes are high for Jake Paul. He takes on former UFC stable and mixed martial arts legend Nate Diaz on August 5. The ten-round match is at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. It’s a must-win for both. Diaz probably prefers resounding success initially, which might pave the way for a rewarding new career. As often observed, remaining aloof from the opponent’s past is difficult with so much limelight thrown. While he prepares for the decisive test, the Stockton, California-born fighter shared his thoughts on some of the frequent utterances hovering over Jake Paul.

The fights Jake Paul participated in, till the Tommy Fury match, often couldn’t escape certain doubts over their authenticity. Several followers questioned the October 29 bout against Anderson Silva. Bodybuilder and YouTuber Bradley Martyn wanted to gauge Nate Diaz’s thoughts on the issue. So first, he shared his intrigue with Jake Paul’s fights, right from the Ben Askern match on his show Raw Talk.’

The fight against Tommy Fury didn’t turn out how he expected. However, he entertained a specific notion on Jake Paul’s bouts. Martyn said, “…because I was so convinced that, like, Jake had these fights fixed, and there’s a lot of people [who] talk about the fights being fixed because it’s just the way it is.The third-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu replied that he, too, had such questions thrown at him.

He said, “Yeah, they tell me that too. They’re like, tell me you’re not gonna take a fall against Paul. Everybody says that to me I’m like are you kidding me? You’re gonna pay me on all the money in the world because it’s on anybody [anybody] ever like what the f**k  is that.So when Martyn enquired whether it meant any discussions regarding such matters never occurred, Nate Diaz replied, “No, if there was, I wish I was, I could dwell on him.

The Cleveland, Ohio-born Youtuber-turned-boxer, till last year on an unbeatable streak, faced his first loss against Tommy Fury. Cherry-picking, old fighters mostly from a non-boxing background, remained one of the regular arguments ‘The Problem Child’ faced. The debate necessitated a closure. After much push and pull, a match with a genuine boxer, albeit with a borderline record, came around early this year on February 26. As it turned out, ‘TNT’ could carry the boxer’s mantle far better than Jake Paul.
