Boxing usually follows the divisional steps ups when it comes to fights. However, the crossover genre’s advent has thrown caution to the wind. Challenges hitherto unthinkable grab headlines. Conor McGregor hasn’t fought since 2021. But he feels he has enough steam in him to tackle another boxer. The choice of the fighter on his crosshairs has turned many a head. Eddie Hearn, though, appears excited about such a prospect. He, however, seems pretty apprehensive about its chance of turning into reality.

On August 26, 2017, Conor McGregor marked his professional boxing debut. His opponent, a forty years old Floyd Mayweather Jr., came from retirement in 2015 to make his record a perfect fifty wins and no reverses. But despite the age gap, the dyed-in-wool boxer displayed why he is the best in the business. Having run out of answers to all the questions Mayweather Jr. raised, it was left to the referee, who wisely decided to wave off the fight before the tenth round closed.

Now, Mcgregor has come out with another proposal to fight another legendary boxer. But, what does Eddie Hearn think about the possible showdown?

Eddie Hearn learns a southpaw proposition

Possibly, finding ‘Canelo’ Alvarez struggling against the Briton John Ryder seemed too tempting for Conor McGregor to toy with the idea that he could take on the Mexican legend. And how would he do that? Speaking to the media, he reasoned, “I’m a southpaw, John Ryder’s a southpaw, Billy Joe Saunders is a southpaw – I’ve seen methods. I’ve seen things I do, and I know he’s waning. [So] I’d fight Canelo, no f***ing problem.

However, when he heard about the Irish mixed martial artist’s comments, ‘Canelo’ Alvarez made light of it, and according to a ‘Marca’ article said, “The truth is I haven’t seen what he said because I don’t have my social networks on my phone right now, but I’ll beat him with one hand on his back.

Eddie Hearn was present while McGregor spoke. So it was now his turn to throw some light on such a tempting encounter. So early today Michelle Joy Phelps from ‘Behind The Gloves,’ caught up with the Matchroom honcho and asked, “We want to talk a bit about the Canelo or Conor McGregor, he’s a.. Conor is an interesting character, and he calling out Canelo Alvarez Canelo has basically said I’d beat him with one hand what’s your thoughts on all of them?

Hearn said, “Connor said he needs no hands to beat him…listen, I don’t know. I mean, it’s not on the agenda, but it’s a massive fight. I mean, Mayweather did it, you know, um, who knows [who knows].

On several occasions, the undisputed Super Middleweight champion has made it clear that the fight that occupies his mind the most is against Dmitry Bivol. The Russian heavy hand crashed Alvarez’s hopes of becoming a Lightweight champion last year. Hence, more than anything else, avenging the loss he suffered on May 7 last year remains his top agenda.
