Conor McGregor made a grand entrance with his entourage, and the venue came alive. On August 5, he launched his ‘Forged Irish Stout’ in the UK. And what better way to amp up the hype than to have the biggest draw in British boxing take a sip? The UFC legend, whose net worth is around $200 million, charged down to ringside to meet the victorious Anthony Joshua and offered the drink. It’s a different fact; as much as he enjoyed it, the former champion forgot what he had while speaking to the media.

The seventh-round knockdown of Robert Helenius was much-needed solace for the crowd at the O2 Arena. But probably, they needed something more than that. The icing on the cake needed an Irish twist. Fans and viewers probably wouldn’t have had the chance to witness McGregor’s cameo. But for Anthony Joshua and Eddie Hearn’s persistence, the Heavyweight bout on August 12 came off in time.

Soon, another reporter corrected him, saying that the drink he considered Guinness was McGregor’s ‘Forged Irish Stout.’ The laughter of the entire congregation, including ‘AJ,” could be heard loud and clear.

The latter shared the merry interaction through his Instagram story early today. The message read, “Our @seantmurphy11 always has wise ideas.” Not least, the post has a question: Is Stout good for Iron? Where followers need to pick either ‘Yes‘ or ‘No.

Is ‘AJ’ ready?

For Anthony Joshua, it would be the year’s second fight. Coming back from consecutive losses to Oleksandr Usyk, questions about his ability to carry on arose. However, determined to stage a comeback to the big leagues, he defeated the American Jermaine Franklin on April 1. But to many, the unanimous victory raised further doubts. Hence, he needed to return to the ring with a bang. But whether the early stoppage puts him on an equal footing with someone like Deontay Wilder, time alone can tell.
