In 2017, while still the biggest star of the UFC, Conor McGregor squared off against Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match. The bout was billed as ‘The Money Fight’ and the duo thoroughly entertained the fans with their personalities and skills. However, since McGregor was a mixed martial artist, Mayweather outboxed the former and won the bout via TKO in the 10th round.

Four years before ‘The Money Fight,’ Canelo Alvarez faced ‘TBE’. And while Mayweather could not knock out Alvarez the way he would later handle ‘The Notorious’, he dominated the Mexican boxer to win the contest via majority decision. Following this loss to ‘Money,’ Alvarez improved his boxing significantly and is today one of the biggest stars in the sport. However, after he recently defended his undisputed super middleweight title against Jermell Charlo, McGregor claimed he landed more shots against Mayweather than Canelo.

According to the Irish fighter, he delivered one of the greatest performances in the history of boxing when he faced ‘Money’. In his opinion, since he landed more shots on Mayweather than Canelo, he should have a rematch with ‘TBE’. “I landed more shots on Floyd than Canelo. I’d love another go,” declared McGregor on X. After the declaration came to Alvarez’s notice, he announced his ability to beat McGregor with only one hand. “I just need one hand with you and I don’t need to throw so many punches,” the undisputed super middleweight champion said. At this, no sooner had DAZN shared the exchange than fans reacted to it.

According to one fan, even the inexperienced Alvarez who lost to Mayweatherwould still embarrass Conor in the ring“.

Similarly, another stated that Canelo would “destroy” the mixed martial artist.

Meanwhile, a fan declared Conor would spark Canelo in an actual fight. “Yeah and Conor sparks him in a real fight,” they said.

On the other hand, one user wanted the fight just for “the entertainment value” of it.
