During the NASCAR Cup Series race at Watkins Glen International, Brad Keselowski started on pole position. Unfortunately, he could not quite sustain it and he ended up all the way down in 35th. The Team Penske driver was a bit desperate to win at The Glen, as he has never won there before. As it turns out, the closest he came was a hat-trick of 2nd place finishes from 2011 to 2013.

Sadly, he would once again come away winless in this year’s edition. Heading into the braking zone, he locked his rear brakes and spun out of control. To make matters worse, he ploughed into teammate Joey Logano and spun him around as well. In the end, Logano managed to salvage 22nd, while Keselowski ended up 35th.

How badly did the race pan out for Brad Keselowski?

To this day, Keselowski is still hunting for his first road course win. Since he started the race from pole position, it was his best shot at breaking his jinx. When the race kicked off, things got off to a good start when he led the opening nine laps ahead of teammate Joey Logano. Firstly, the #2 Penske driver spun out on his own on lap 10, just before the competition caution.

As a result, he flat-spotted all four of his tires and was forced to pit due to the lack of rear grip. Later on, he spun again and poor old Joey Logano was an innocent victim.

Admittedly, he would not have pinned the entire blame on his soon-to-be former teammate, because Keselowski was clearly struggling. Finally in the end, the 2012 Cup Series champion finished the race all the way down in 35th place and two laps down.

At least Team Penske salvaged something when Ryan Blaney finished in 14th place on the race track, the highest of the trio.
