Juventus’ 1-4 win over rivals Torino saw veteran ‘keeper Gianluigi Buffon break a 22 year old record set by Sebastiano Rossi for the most minutes without conceding. Sunday’s match saw Buffon completing 974 minutes without conceding a goal, with Sampdoria’s Antonio Cassano the last player to beat the Italian no. 1.

Sebastiano Rossi, under Fabio Capello had previously gone 929 minutes without conceding, beating Dino Zoff’s previous record of 903 minutes. But Buffon, after a rough start to the season has been a rock for Juventus as they lead the Serie A Table. In the 28 matches Juventus have played in the league, Buffon has made  42 saves, keeping 17 clean sheets in total. Only Jan Oblak of Atletico Madrid has more clean sheets in the league across Europe, with 19 clean sheets.
