Former women’s World Number 1 Caroline Wozniacki tried her hand at cooking as Citi Taste of Tennis returned to regale tennis fans.
An event that sees the top tennis stars bond with leading chefs and the game’s followers over food saw the Dane join renowned chef Adrianne Calvo for a spot of cooking.

With more than 100 other chefs joining virtually, the former Grand Slam champion learned to make seasoned Korean-style marinated skirt steak, topped with red chimichurri and slices of hot honey potatoes.

She added that she was anxious to get it right and feeling more nervous than she ever had on a tennis court.
“I’m just trying not to burn down the kitchen today. That’s my goal,” the Dane quipped.
However, with Calvo keeping a studious eye on things, albeit from a virtual distance, Wozniacki wasn’t short on guidance and expert inputs.
Explaining the idea behind marinating the steak, Calvo said, “Skirt steak can be a little bit chewy, it can be on the tougher side. By marinating it with kiwi, we are adding a natural tenderizer.”
He also guided the Dane as she seasoned the steaks with ginger, garlic, soy sauce, red pepper flakes, sugar, fresh cilantro, sake and kiwi.

Wozniacki, who sustained a thumb in a recent hiking trip with her husband, had it bandaged as she went about the job.
Former American tennis star Chanda Rubin, who also joined virtually, asked the Dane whether she had any abiding memory from the Miami Open.
“I reached the finals in 2017, didn’t I?” Wozniacki said.

It wasn’t a case of love’s labor lost in the end as the dish turned out pretty fine.
The former World Number 1 brought her career to an early close after being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis.
