Boxing enthusiasts always ponder upon who will be the next great. Who will be the next Muhammad Ali? The next Mike Tyson? The next Floyd Mayweather Jr.? It is always interesting when the world finds similarities between a rising athlete with that of a retired legend. But it also rubs the fans of the legend in a certain way when this happens. This is exactly what has gotten a certain set of folks riled up on the internet. Is Shakur Stevenson the next Floyd Mayweather?
Even the question of this sort has not gone well with ‘Pretty Boy’ Mayweather fans. Yes, the two have had a very stellar career so far. Both have risen against all odds and gone onto the hoist of the flag of victory when the tide was against them. But have they had very similar journeys?
The times in which these boxers’ saw their career take off are starkly different. For Mayweather, it was the late 20th century. Where he indeed had to prove himself again and again in an environment that was heavily dominated by talks of prowess and only that. But today, as ‘Sugar’ Stevenson rises the ranks, he deals with a new phenomenon. There are folks always watching his every move through social media. In these days of utter scrutiny, his focus centered around advancing his boxing acumen but also pushing the threshold ahead to get those headlines-grabbing bouts.

Amidst all of these factors to consider, a video emerged on the internet that showed the two fighters in a similar light.
Shakur Stevenson, the second rising of the Mayweather phenomena?
A video posted by a boxing enthusiast, U. Nano showed that both Shakur and Floyd take similar jabs in one of their most iconic matches. The video also had a brief reference to the times they did not have in their favor. He tweeted, “Shakur Stevenson is the Second coming of Floyd Mayweather. STAMP it FRAME it ENGRAVE it. Nano said it here first.”
A user was not okay with the fact that a very new to the game Shakur was being placed on this pedestal.

KINGOFBOUNCE also was not happy with the hype the young boxer was receiving. The user rightly pointed out that any fighter is prone to losses, but when Shakur does lose at some point, he will take it really hard on himself given the pressure that is on him.
That boy is nowhere close to Floyd's talent. You guys hyping him up, and setting him up for failure, whenever he does lose, and any boxer can get clipped or beat, he's going to take it hard. Stop the cap, stop the hyping. Why is @ShakurStevenson vs @Gervontaa not fighting?

Mr. Salma Hayek acknowledged the prowess Sugar has so far shown in the boxing ring, however, she thinks he cannot match the caliber of Pretty Boy.
Shakur is great. But Floyd 2 years in to his pro career had already been named fighter of the year in 1998.
