The second month of 2024 is almost about to end and the potential opponent of Canelo Alvarez as he looks forward to making his return back to the ring still remains unknown. Amid, Jermall Charlo, Terence Crawford, and David Benavidez, he has already crossed out ‘Bud’ from the list. However, it seems that Benavidez will not be his next adversary either.

Just recently Benavidez’s promoter Sampson Lewkowicz claimed that PBC had sent a $55 million deal to team Canelo, before deleting the tweet. Thus as of now, we’re back to square one. Moreover, he has already moved on to another opponent for now. Interestingly, Jose Benavidez Sr. had an intriguing detail to share when asked about the reason for the fight falling apart.

This development angered Jose Benavidez Sr., David’s father and trainer. He fired off bold accusations, claiming Canelo is “almost on his way out” and “doesn’t want anything to do with David.” His words paint a picture of Canelo dodging a tough challenge, prioritizing money over legacy.

But is it truly a “circus,” as Sr. claims? Or is Canelo properly strategizing his career? With Jaime Munguia and Jermall Charlo in the mix, the decision isn’t an easy one.
