With each passing day, more details of the upcoming Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul are making headlines. Lately, it was reported that the winner of the bout would be determined only if either of them scored a knockout. However, in fresh updates, the news has been debunked by Paul’s business aide, Nakisa Bidarian.
On July 20th, a grand showdown between the two fighters will take place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The fight, one of the most discussed lately, has remained in an abyss of certainty given the nature of it. On one hand, remains Tyson, a legend. On the other is ‘Problem Child, a fighter still on the rise. Given this premise, one would presume that the fight will take its course in an exhibition-esque fashion. With very little official confirmation regarding the rules, some concrete rules have been communicated directly by Paul’s team.

Boxing reporter, Dan Rafael has clarified that none of the new rules are official or true for that matter. His clarification is backed by Most Valuable Promotions (MVP)’s co-founder, Bidarian who debunked the rumors. Rafael wrote on his social media, “Per @jakepaul’s business partner Nakisa Bidarian, none of this is true as various aspects of the fight have not even been officially determined yet.”
Reports had earlier suggested that fighters on the card above the age of 36 will have to complete an electroencephalogram (EEG) and electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) test to steer clear of any heart or brain complications that might endanger their health.

The rules also noted that the fighters will wear 16oz gloves instead of the usual 10oz ones. Generally, 16oz gloves are worn during sparring sessions to ensure safety and comfort. In place of the regular 3-minute-round fights, the matchup will consist of 2-minute-long rounds. However, the most crucial rule in this update is that the winner of the fight will not be determined by judges’ scores. Instead, only a knockout will give us a winner.
