In what was supposed to be a close match, Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford dominated Errol Spence Jr. round after round. After securing a ninth-round knockout, Crawford became the unified Welterweight champion. But the war between Bud and ‘The Truth’ is not just over yet. There were discussions of a rematch as Spence invoked his rematch clause after losing his fight.

In a fight between two amazing fighters, one undefeated and the other suffering only one loss at the hands of the other, it is hard to pick sides. Former world champion Jamel Herring played a smart move by not picking one over the other but instead, wished both of them well. In his interview with ‘Pro Boxing Fans’, Herring spoke about many different fights, along with the rematch between Spence Jr. and Crawford. Let us see what he had to say.

Jamel Herring wants Terence Crawford to go for Jaron Ennis

When asked for his opinion on the rematch, Herring started by saying, “You know for me, I don’t really want to see it. I love both of those guys,” and then went on to further explain how Spence was his teammate in the 2012 Olympics. Crawford, on the other hand, was his stable mate when they trained together. Evidently, due to his relationship with both fighters, he does not wish either any harm.

He explained, “ I just want them to both go their separate ways because the first fight didn’t play out as many thought it would,” talking of Crawford’s dominant performance throughout the match. Herring expressed how it is a dangerous fight for Spence regardless of the weight due to the condition of his health right now.

Herring went on to say, “I’d like to see Bud go look for different bigger challenges against Boots Ennis maybe at 154 but do let Errol Spence do his own thing as well”. It is clear that the former champion wants both his mates to do well. It seems that Terence Crawford is happy to skip over the rematch as well. Let us find out why.

Terence Crawford is ready to move on from Errol Spence Jr.

The welterweight champion seems to have had enough with Errol Spence Jr. as he tweeted on X, “I done heard it all now Errol Spence Jr it’s ok tho because all in all I’m glad it’s over and done with. I wish you well ma brotha,” showing some form of appreciation to his opponent towards the end. While it is not clear what Crawford exactly meant by this, there is something we can surmise here.

The tweet might be referring to Spence’s recent cataract surgery. Spence blamed his eye for his poor performance against Bud. He wrote, “Sh*t was covering my eye. Why you think I got hit with so many jabs and hooks? Still a great performance by bro.” While the rematch was speculated to happen this year, with Spence’s condition, it is not clear if there will be a rematch at all.
