There is only one spot reserved for the Wrestler of the Year. In pro wrestling, we get many superstars with a commendable in-ring record now and then, but when it comes down to the greatest one of them all, only the fittest and finest one can grab the honor. Now it’s Cody Rhodes’ turn to know how it feels to be at the top.
Although garnering awards and honors is not new to The American Nightmare, being named the Pro Wrestling Illustrated 2023’s Most Popular Wrestler of the Year certainly triggered some special emotions in him.

Since his monumental comeback in 2022, the former AEW star has showcased his full prowess inside the squared circle. From emerging victorious in a horrific Royal Rumble match to emerging triumphant against the most menacing stars like Brock Lesnar and Shinsuke Nakamura, Cody Rhodes is only left with reaching his last step toward supremacy. Before stepping out on the path of finishing his story at WrestleMania, the American Nightmare took a moment to appreciate his latest feather in the cap.

The 2023 Royal Rumble winner will be aiming to repeat his exploits from last year as he looks to make another attempt at completing his story. However, a lot has changed since his last win at the event. Nevertheless, the American Nightmare will have the necessary fuel to do whatever it takes, especially since he has familial backing behind him.

Dustin Rhodes desperately wants Cody Rhodes to finish his story at WrestleMania 40
Moving ahead, alongside millions of fans, Dustin Rhodes seems utterly optimistic about his brother finishing the story and rising to the unfulfilled family legacy. Ever since The Rock waltzed back in WWE and dropped a massive tease of a brawl with Roman Reigns, the anticipation has been running wild regarding a potential cousin vs cousin clash in the Grandest Stage of Them All in April. It increased WWE’s chance to alter the main event plan by snubbing the RAW star from the world title picture again.
During a recent interview, Dustin Rhodes expressed his utter displeasure with that potential twist. He doesn’t want The Rock to take his brother’s spot as he firmly believes this is Cody Rhodes’ turn to get his time in the spotlight. He will be pissed off if WWE chooses to break Rhodes’ current momentum.

There can also be another case where WWE books Rhodes in a main event title match on one night and The Rock vs. Roman Reigns on the other night. However, there is very little chance to get it that way, as it won’t be good business-wise to pull out two massive matches back to back in one weekend.
We need to see whether the promotion gives Cody Rhodes the fruits of his years of hard work or leaves him in the same waiting mode.
