“I Don’t Know if I Can Talk Legally” – AEW Star Expresses His Disappointment on WWE Hall of Famers’ “Still Using” Their Signature Move

The wrestling world has a wild fascination with the various beautiful moves and maneuvers executed by the stars. Some signature moves get so much fame that it transcends time. One such maneuver is The Revival’s famous finisher move, Shatter Machine.

After leaving the biggest wrestling promotion, The Revival joined AEW as FTR back in 2020. With that, they also changed the name of their finisher move to Goodnight Express. But WWE still seemed to have access to it as Edge and Beth clinched the victory in the Elimination Chamber 2023, executing the Shatter Machine on Balor and Ripley. Also, another WWE Hall of Famer Michael Cole called the move by its old name, Shatter Machine, which initially made Hardwood emotional.

Dax Harwood reveals his real feelings on WWE still using FTR’s signature finisher move

A month after the incident took place, Dax Hardwood seems to differ slightly from his previous point of view and finally revealed his real feelings regarding it. Though the current AEW star previously labeled the entire incident as beautiful, now found it quite disappointing.

Appearing in a recent interview with Fightful Wrestling With Sean Ross Sapp, Hardwood noted, ’10 years after we have come up with all that stuff they’re still using that name, that moves in a company that we are not even associated with at the time. You know what I mean and it struck a chord with me and I was like, you know what that’s what it’s called. It’s the shatter machine, and that’s what we are gonna use signing over the rights. I don’t know if I can legally talk about all that stuff about what names were used and what wasn’t. I will just say we got permission.’

While his dislike of certain deeds of WWE is seemingly clear, the FTR member praised his old promotion too regarding another context.

Can WWE be the next stop for FTR?

Cody Rhodes revived a major push from WWE ever since he returned to the company after leaving AEW. Referring to this, Hardwood thinks it’s amazing how beautifully WWE handled Rhodes when they could have easily denied it, as The American Nightmare had no option left to go back to Tony Kahn’s promotion. But they didn’t do it and that’s pretty clear from the massive recognition Rhodes gets nowadays. The former Revival member also admits that he and Cash Wheeler have to think twice about their future with AEW as the push of Cody Rhodes in WWE majorly impacted them.

The FTR’s contract with Tony Khan’s promotion is set to expire in April. Now it will be interesting to see what the duo’s next destination will be.
