Top Dolla Set to Take On Tony Khan’s Former AEW Recruit in First Official Match Since WWE Release

After the WWE-UFC merger in September, the Stamford-based promotion released several superstars as part of their budget cuts. Top Dolla (aka A.J. Francis) was one of the superstars who was laid off from the company. Three months after his release, he is set to return to the ring soon. Fans recently found out that he will be wrestling his first post-WWE match against a former Tony Khan employee.
Top Dolla is set to wrestle former AEW star, Joey Janela at GCW
On the latest GCW holiday special event, Top Dolla made his presence felt. He crashed the show and attacked Joey Janela in the middle of the ring. Therefore, an official match has been set up. Dolla will go one-on-one against Janela at GCW: Look At Me scheduled to take place on January 26 in Tampa, Florida.

WWE released the former WWE superstar in September and, like the other talents who were also released, had to abide by a 90-day non-compete clause. The non-compete ended just a day ago. Therefore, Dolla didn’t waste any time exploring other opportunities.

Currently, Dolph Ziggler, Matt Riddle, and Mustafa Ali are some of the biggest free agents in the wrestling market. Since their release in September, they have not joined any other promotion. This has led wrestling fans to wonder which company they might join next.
According to a recent report from Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer News, Impact Wrestling might bag these top free agents soon. Meltzer disclosed that the promotion has earmarked some money that they could spend to sign Ziggler, Ali, or Riddle.
