The attackers have also left a ransom note threatening CDPR. In the note, they have given the studio a 48-hour ultimatum to meet certain demands. In the event the studio fails to do so, the attackers would leak the source code to Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher 3. They have also compromised the internal documents of the studio’s employees.

CDPR denies listening to the demands of the attackers

In the Twitter release by CD Projekt RED, it has boldly claimed that it will not be giving in to the demands of the attackers. The studio is taking all the relevant steps, including involving the authorities to recover from the attack. Moreover, it also aims to apprehend and punish those behind the attack.

CDPR also said that the studio’s backups remain intact. Therefore, all the files that the attackers encrypted are not lost. Instead, CDPR is working to recover them with the help of these backups.

The studio intends to fully cooperate in any investigation by the authorities. The attack is probably a result of the disappointment that CDPR delivered in the form of Cyberpunk 2077 after all the hype. However, even after the failure of the game, the community should condemn the need to go to such extents.

In moments like these, the gaming community should unite to help the studio that tried its best to deliver a decent game to fans. Even after the disastrous launch, it is working hard to fix the game. Moreover, it has ensured that none of the player data leaks.
