Chelsea have officially completed the deal that will bring Stoke Goalkeeper, Asmir Begovic to Stamford Bridge for a reported £8 million. The 28-year-old has signed a four year contract with the blues and would wear the No. 1 shirt. Begovic becomes Chelsea’s second signing of the summer and would replace Petr Cech in the squad. Begovic was delighted with the move and was quoted as saying : “I am very happy to be joining Chelsea FC. After speaking at length to the manager, I feel like I can develop here and be an important part of this team.” He told Chelsea’s Official website. ” I am looking forward to meeting up with the team on Wednesday for the pre-season tour.” Begovic has been one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League for most of his five-and-a-half year stint with Stoke City and has been a consistent performer at the back for them as they claimed the 9th place for the second consecutive season, their best ever finish in England’s top division. Current first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will continue to wear the No. 13 shirt and the No.1 shirt vacated by club legend Petr Cech will be worn by Begovic next season as confirmed by Chelsea. The capture of Asmir Begovic would surely help Chelsea next season as they launch a credible title defence in the Premier League and dominate Europe in their Champions League campaign.

Most recently, they won the UEFA Champions League under the leadership of manager Thomas Tuchel. They beat the Premier League champions Manchester City 1-0 in the final as Kai Havertz took the Blues to the promised land.

<h2><strong>Premier League 2021/22</strong></h2>
The 30<sup>th</sup> season of the top flight professional English football, Premier League 2021/22 will take place from August 13 2021 to May 17 2022. After a not-so-thrilling title race last season against Manchester United, Manchester City emerged victorious for the Premier League title. The 2021/22 edition of the tournament is set to bring an equal amount of excitement, with Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United all in the mix for the title.

Comprising of four divisions until 1991, the top division of English football split up and all the teams in the top division, after multiple discussions with the football authorities and television broadcasters, formed the Premier League in 1992.

The competition format remained the same, with three clubs relegated and three clubs promoted every season, and the top four clubs in the Premier League would qualify for the Champions League.

The main reason for the change in approach was to bring in more money into the game. The first broadcast rights for the Premier League was to be won at ?304?million over five years by Sky UK. The Premier League is the most-watched sports league in the world, broadcast in 212 territories to 643?million homes and a potential TV audience of 4.7?billion people.
