Conor McGregor might be making a return to the octagon pretty soon after his feature film debut. McGregor was originally supposed to face Michael Chandler in late 2023 following ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ season as head coach. Unfortunately, the film was postponed and no reason was given for that. It was previously speculated that the birth of the Irishman’s fourth child and his noncompliance with USADA rules caused the delay. McGregor announced late last year that he would be fighting Chandler at UFC 300 in June this year.

This was directly shut down by CEO Dana White and has led to numerous speculations as to why UFC is not booking the starfighter to go back to the octagon. However, according to the cutthroat commentator of UFC and former title contender Chael Sonnen, McGregor has announced that the fight with Chandler is happening. Meanwhile, Uncle Chael did find a red flag in the words of the ‘Road House’ actor.

According to Uncle Chael, McGregor was supposedly talking to Marc Raimondi and he supposedly said that he’s going to fight this summer. The former UFC double champion told ESPN that he would be coming back to fight this summer against Michael Chandler. However, the exact date is still not known. McGregor said, that he got confirmation a few days ago and that it’s all systems go. However, Sonen found one red flag with McGregor’s words.

Uncle Chael reiterated, “He then got asked about the weight class, and he did not know and that was a red flag for me. I Like that Conor said it I like that he said ‘All systems go’. I looked at his face, his face looked smaller. It looks like he is training, it looks like he is getting in shape. I think that he is sincere about wanting to compete.”

He also mentioned that Conor and Dana are saying completely different things but neither of them is upset with each other. Meanwhile, Chandler is consistent with his statement on the fight taking place in the summer. So, the endless guessing game continues and is now being fuelled by Uncle Chael more and more.

McGregor’s return to the Octagon is not only making fans excited but has slowly started turning into lore with many possible endings. One person suggested that he might come back at UFC 300 and now another person suggests that he will come back on June 29th.

Meanwhile, this person might actually have a point- “Do you think this is the fight that we’re waiting on the big reveal now? ‘No,’ is my answer. No, because I don’t know that we would have a shock and/or an awe moment… My biggest pushback on Conor versus Chandler being a main event at 300 is policy says title fights go last. The policy says even further, if there are two title fights on the same card, whoever is heavier goes last.”

He gave two points to establish his point- Chandler and McGregor’s fight will not be unforeseen anymore. Secondly, he said that neither of the fighters has a title belt wrapped around their waists and this reduces the odds of the fight happening. So the question of when McGregor is returning is still a speculation and the guessing game continues.
