Everyone, including Captain Obvious, knows that Formula One is expensive. Replacing parts of a car can burn extra large holes in a team’s pocket. Now, with the controversial HALO set to make an entry, teams are aghast at the price of that silly contraption. Sources say that three companies have submitted an application to the FIA to supply the ‘Halo’. These 3 companies will build it in accordance with the governing body’s specifications and requirements.

A German magazine stated that those who meet the requirements could sell Halo to F1, Formula 2 and Formula E teams. But a big issue will be price, with insiders reporting that a single Halo will cost somewhere between EUR 13,000 and 24,000.”

On the outside, it may not seem like much but Force India’s Andy Green disagrees. He said “It will be expensive. We not only have to order Halos for the cars, but also for the FIA load tests.” Each team will have to order multiple HALOs which could cost between the range of $15 million to $28 million.

Although many drivers are not really huge fans of the device, they may not have a choice.
