48 year-old bowler, Pravin Tambe, will not be playing in the IPL 2020. The player was purchased by Kolkata Knight Riders for 20 lakhs during the December auction.
Pravin Tambe disregards BCCI policies
Tambe is facing the ban from IPL 2020 since he did not comply with the BCCI policies. He played in a foreign league without officially announcing his retirement. Tambe played for the Sindhis in the Abu Dhabi T10 league.

Brijesh Patel, the IPL Chairman, said, “He (Tambe) wont be allowed to play IPL. He (Tambe) won’t be allowed other wise we have to allow everyone.”

According to the BCCI rules, the board allows players to participate in one day, three day, four day, and county cricket only. Furthermore, before playing anything the player has to acquire a no objection certification from the Board and respective state. Since, Tambe did not follow through with the procedure, his tenure with KKR for IPL 2020 ended before it even started.

Tambe’s IPL career
He is supposedly the oldest player who was bought by a franchise at the IPL 2020 auction. Between 2013 and 2016, he has participated in 33 IPL matches under three different teams. The teams are Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, and Gujarat Lions. During his IPL career, Pravin Tambe has bagged 28 wickets. Out of these 28, 15 were from the matches of 2014.
Tambe explained how he feels like a 20-year-old when he is playing the matches. His aim is to bring all the energy and positivity to the team regardless of whether he is playing or not.

“I know that I can bring that, even if I’m with them not playing. I will like to do well in whatever role given to me be it in fielding or bowling. It’s not to prove anything.”
As of now, it is unclear whether Pravin Tambe’s spot will get a replacement player or not. Kolkata Knight Riders is yet to make this announcement.
