“Crowd Being Against You”: Ajla Tomljanovic Reveals Advice From Dad and Boyfriend Matteo Berrettini at Wimbledon Championships 2021

Australian player Ajla Tomljanovic was up against a home girl and 18-year-old Emma Raducanu. They were competing in the fourth round of the Wimbledon Championships 2021. Naturally, the crowd would favor Emma more as compared to Ajla. Being a youngster and belonging to that particular reason, she would definitely receive some biases.
After winning the contest, Ajla Tomljanovic reflected on the advice received from her father and boyfriend Matteo Berrettini prior to the match. They encouraged and motivated her to see the positive side of things and to feel honored on making it to this stage in the competition.
The 28-year-old player stated, “My dad and Matteo before the match, they were like, Look, we work to be in the fourth round of a Slam and play on Court 1 in. No matter the crowd is against you, it’s going to be a privilege to be out there and just feel the energy.”

Ajla Tomljanovic walks in with the least expectations
The Croatian-Australian player played down her chances and revealed that she doesn’t go into matches thinking she would emerge as the winner. She approaches these matches with the idea of going out there enjoying herself and giving it her best shot.
The first-time quarterfinalist further added, “I will be honest, I don’t think I’m going into matches thinking I’m going to win. I’m just going in thinking if I take care of myself and what I can do, I have a really good shot.”
