Cyberpunk 2077 lets you choose from three distinct character backgrounds before you load a fresh game. Two of the choices are a tad bit underprivileged, but the last one starts your Night City journey right from the top of the luxury line, but it doesn’t last for long by any means.

Ironically, these character backgrounds seem to run in Cyberpunk’s performance as well. Streamers and players with the costliest gaming set-ups are enjoying the game to its fullest. The less unfortunate ones are the previous gen console owners who find the RPG practically unplayable.

Seven or eight years of waiting for some of these players has ended with characters looking like faceless ghosts roaming about their screens.

Adding to the misery, there were recorded instances of the game dropping frames like confetti on PS4 and Xbox One.

However, the problems are not just on the previous-gen versions. Cyberpunk runs via backward compatibility on both the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Even with all the optimization, it seems like the game is unable to look its best anywhere except on PC.

Read on to find out a comparison between the two new-gen consoles and PC running Cyberpunk 2077.

PS5 vs Xbox vs PC: Visuals in Cyberpunk 2077

Popular YouTuber ElAnalistaDeBits, made a comparison video between the two new-gen consoles and the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077. The results were disappointing on the consoles, with the PS5 faring the worst out of them all.

An important bit of information that one needs to consider, however, is that CDPR has promised a 2021 version for new-gen consoles. Whether that will ‘patch’ things up, we will have to wait to find out.

While there are no major FPS drops, PS5 is limited in the resolutions it can run the game on.

The PC version runs at 4K / Ultra 30FPS with DLSS. There are some interesting differences between versions, starting with the absence of modes on PS5. Series X has a 1800p / 30fps mode and another with a medium resolution of 1224p / 60fps, while the PS5 has to settle for only the second option.

“Some textures and shadows are considerably lower on the PS5 version, in addition to having a lower draw distance and npcs density. The most noticeable differences in PC are mainly the textures, the lighting (with RT) and the density of NPCs.

Surely no one waited eight years and a thousand delays for this. Here’s hoping things patch up real soon on the console front and Night City looks as amazing as on PC.
