Being stuck in an elevator is never fun for anyone, especially on a blisteringly hot day. Unfortunately, that was what befell Daniel Ricciardo and a number of other drivers at Hockenheim. Among the victims were Ricciardo, Valtteri Bottas, George Russell, Pierre Gasly, Daniil Kvyat, Romain Grosjean, Lando Norris, Nico Hulkenberg, Charles LeClerc and Carlos Sainz Jr.

The Renault F1 team later tweeted about the incident, dubbing it a close call and the good news was that the elevator finally worked and everyone got out safely. It was also worth noting that neither of the Racing Point drivers, nor the Alfa Romeo drivers were in the elevator. Maybe it was a ploy for them to gain more points in the championship by eliminating their rivals!

On a more serious note, it was fortunate that all 10 drivers were able to walk away and that nobody was claustrophobic. Also, fortunately for the drivers, Daniel Ricciardo was not in a pranking mood and did not pass wind in the elevator, as much as he was sorely tempted to. Also, the drivers all seemed to be in high spirits, in spite of being stranded there until the elevator started working again
