The situation seemingly mirrored a situation that struck Scuderia Ferrari in Hungary 2018. During that race, the Italian outfit informed Kimi Raikkonen that his drinks bottle was not connected properly.

Coming back to Daniel Ricciardo, the Aussie drove a very plucky race despite the handicap. In the end, the Renault driver finished the race in 7th, just behind the Mercedes pair and Ferrari pair and Max Verstappen, as well as Carlos Sainz Jr.

For this race in particular, Ricciardo was running a new and upgraded engine for the team’s home race. After starting behind the McLaren duo and Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo was able to overtake Lando Norris, but Sainz Jr was just too far ahead.
