Football legend Diego Armando Maradona had to be treated by paramedics following Argentina’s last-gasp win over Nigeria last night. The superstar was livid with expressions throughout the game and finally lost his composure after Marcus Rojo’s 86th-minute winner.

The La Albiceletes had to win the game to qualify for the Knockout Stages and had taken the lead through the mercurial Leo Messi, but were pegged level by a Victor Moses penalty. Maradona, who was watching the game from the stands made no effort to hide his feelings throughout the 90 minutes, expressing a variety of emotions from joy to anger to anguish to utter exhilaration. He capped it off by showing middle fingers to the camera after the late goal as an act of defiance.

As per reports from the Argentine newspaper La Nacion, the 57-year-old was checked for low blood pressure and was able to walk from the stadium under his own power. The South American television network, for whom Maradona has been filming a show at the Russia World Cup later released a photo showing the former Napoli forward boarding a flight for Moscow.

It was the second time that such obscene gestures were caught live on camera at this year’s World Cup, following Robbie William’s eccentric performance during the opening ceremony.
