EA CFO Confident Apex Legends Will Become a Billion Dollar Franchise Despite ‘Challenging Times’

Apex Legends has been through a rollercoaster of popularity in recent times. The battle royale title brought some fresh elements to the genre and saw a huge tide of popularity. However, the interest of the community faded as the genre saw a saturation of titles.
With the 6th Season of Apex Legends introducing a lot of gameplay elements and a new legend, the popularity of this title is on the rise. According to a report from EA Games, Apex could well become a billion-dollar title by 2021.

Apex Legends might become EA’s billion-dollar baby by the end of this fiscal year
According to this year’s earning presentation, Apex’s net bookings have been going up by 24% every year. EA speculates that the game might bring home $500 million during this fiscal year alone.

EA CFO Blake Jorgensen says, “Apex Legends is on track to become our latest billion-dollar franchise by the end of the fiscal year. All of our studios continue to execute amazingly well and have enabled us to launch an industry-leading eight games since the beginning of the fiscal year while continuing to deliver live services content and expand onto new platforms.”
EA’s overall earnings for this fiscal year have exceeded expectations. However, Apex’s rise to the position it is currently in really takes the cake. Looks like the current season has managed to win a portion of its player base back.
