Loved the evolution of characters in Red Dead Redemption 2? Well, the latest internet theories suggest Rockstar Games might be bringing a similar approach to the screens with GTA 6. While another day passes by without the fans getting anything concrete on the schedule of GTA 6, a viral fan theory has sparked an interesting discussion online regarding the possible character development in the storyline of the upcoming giant. To project what the makers might offer in the next Grand Theft Auto release, fans are going back to the early days of Red Dead Redemption 2!

Rockstar Games has been a pioneer of gangster world titles. But considering GTA V came out 10 years back, the wait for GTA 6 has indeed been quite long. Moreover, the constant leaks and speculations around the project have only added to the frustration. But it has also raised an important question: what to expect from the sixth installment in terms of characters and story? The answer, surprisingly, had been answered a long back ago in the context of RDR2.

The latter was asked what new does Rockstar provide with RDR2.

It’s the biggest game we have ever made. Not just going bigger and broader but striving for depth. Being able to go into more environments. If you’re trying to create a world that you believe in, a character that you believe in, you have to have a connection. So, we’re always trying to push I think with every game to go deeper. For things to mean something, they need to cost something,” Nelson answered.

It goes without saying that the formula to adapt to a more detailed character narrative and arc worked wonders for the developers with RDR2. Thus, it only makes sense to assume that they would have gone with a similar approach for GTA 6.

Drawing parallels with GTA 6

Considering the magnitude of RDR2, there’s a lot to take from the statements of the Producer. Apparently, the sixth installment of GTA is expected to focus a lot more on character development and story arcs than just being a rampage action fest.

The predecessor of the sixth installment, GTA V, had one major criticism: it was around the approach of character evolution. A lot of gaming fanatics believed that the story arc and character progress showcased in GTA V weren’t the best of Rockstar. However, with all the time the makers have taken with GTA 6, one can hope the wait is worth it.

If the rumors are to be trusted, the story is inspired by Bonnie and Clyde. The two characters Lucia and Jason are allegedly playable characters from the game. The infamous leaks of 2022 suggest both the characters will have a strong backstory and will develop an arc as one progresses in the game. No surprises, the speculations on the story align with the statements Rob Nelson had made for RDR2.
