Released on various consoles and the PC on April 1, 2021, as well as the Xbox Game Pass, Outriders has seen great success in terms of reeling in new players. For the Game Pass, the title was available on Day 1.

That seems to be one of the reasons the game has done so well. And developers at Square Enix couldn’t be more pleased with the results.

Squire Enix’s Outriders gets big

The prevalent belief at Square Enix is that the launch had its ups and downs, but overall the game seems to be doing great. The game, in the first week of its launch, made the number one spot in terms of sales on Xbox.

Between the day of launch and a month from that day, the game managed to gain over 3.4 million players across the globe. Since the reports don’t narrow down how many of these players got the game on Game Pass, the number of players the Game Pass provided Outriders is still unknown. That said, experts predict the number to be on the higher side.

Outriders wasn’t supposed to be a small deal and was ambitious from the get-go. Since the game is a top-tier third-party RPG shooter, the devs could’ve gone down a different. And that would’ve been understandable. The game pass has a huge list of games and an even bigger subscriber base. The people at Square Enix must have noticed that the number of subscribers had only grown with time. So they seized the opportunity, and the game released on Game Pass soon.

What does the future hold?

The game came with bugs and some minor issues during launch. But it has since established itself as a game worth playing. Players and critics alike seem to be in agreement that the game has a lot of potential. And since the game has got so big, there is a good chance Square Enix will make a franchise out of the game in the future.

Outriders is currently available on Xbox One, Xbox series consoles, Playstation 4 and 5, and the PC and Stadia.

With a wide range of games lined up for day one, third-party titles looking to gain momentum player base-wise coming to Game Pass might soon be super common.
