Even though Baldur’s Gate 3 was launched yesterday, the community is yet to receive a concrete review of the game on Metacritic. However, the absence of a definitive review score hasn’t stopped fans from gushing across social media platforms about how well the game plays. The community believes that Baldur’s Gate 3 will be a testimony of how reviews don’t always matter for a game to perform well in the market.

It seems like Larian Studios wants the players to experience the game on their own before being influenced by any reviewer’s take on Baldur’s Gate 3. This will definitely be a refreshing move in the current industry conditions.

There isn’t any Metacritic score available for Baldur’s Gate 3 as of now. While reviews are pouring in, as visitors to the website can see for themselves, a definitive average score isn’t yet available yet. Even if such a score is given soon, the anomaly that the game has already shown is something fans will remember for a long time.

The incident is all the more interesting since Baldur’s Gate 3 has been in the making since as early as 2020. With so much time for the game to come under scrutiny, fans were sure that reviewers will have played at least some parts of Baldur’s Gate 3 before its release. But the absent Metascore proves that fans will always make their own decisions rather than wait for any critic to give a verdict on a game’s quality.

Metacritic is an online rating website, created in 1999. Since then, fans have rated movies, music, video games, and everything else on the website to reflect community perceptions. Reviewers often get access to new releases sometime prior to the market launch. Hence, a Metacritic score for products or services is often available days before a game or film is accessible by all fans. While such a trend is already an established norm, Larian Studios have taken a very different path, it seems.

Larian’s Baldur’s Gate 3, the Dungeons & Dragons-based RPG, was released on August 3. The title created significant hype among the fans with its initial trailers and gameplay footage. The D&D tabletop franchise is immensely popular among fans and the much-awaited release has been selling very well. However, despite so much attention to the game, it seems like reviewers haven’t received any early copies of the game.
