Ever since it was initially revealed to the entire world, nearly two decades ago, Activision’s Call of Duty saga has fascinated millions of gaming lovers. While hardcore players of the series have witnessed endless entries throughout the years, recent offerings have broadened the perspective of all the fans for how they see this action franchise.

In the past, Call of Duty had basically a simple format of churning out a single-player-based Campaign title each year. Along with that, it used to comprise of a Multiplayer mode for fans who were fond of engaging in online battles. However, the changes in the video game industry, in recent years, have also influenced the way Activision operates this beloved and blockbuster series. Hence, nearly three years ago, it also joined the now-famous-trend of making live-service battle royale titles, to give a free-to-play experience to those who can’t always purchase a brand new premium installment from the publisher.

2022’s Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2 are prime examples of this approach being used by Activision since 2020. And it will likely continue for a long time in the future as well. When it comes to the currently available entries, however, they are very unique in terms of offering different experience to the players, despite being attached to the CoD brand. A casual player who’s just fond of gaming might assume that they are part of a single title – but that’s not the case at all.

Warzone 2 adds an extra flavor to its battle royale setup with another unique mode called DMZ. Such kind of content was not present during the time of the original Warzone that was launched in 2020.
