Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Trailer, With Close to 30 Million Views Under a Week, Is Already on the Verge of Surpassing the First Game in a Rebooted Franchise

Over the last three generations of consoles, one of the most popular gaming franchises is Call of Duty. A game made memorable through its action-packed experience and made immortal through its characters. With the Modern Warfare series, they had both, amazing characters and gameplay fans loved. As CoD: Modern Warfare III approaches release, it looks like fans’ excitement is higher than ever before.

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III trailer came out on YouTube following the Shadow Siege reveal event. The trailer garnered millions of views in just two days, as it comes close to the viewer count for 2019’s Modern Warfare. This is attributed to the massive changes the franchise is bringing with this new installment.

The Shadow Siege event was what Call of Duty had players hyping up for. The much-awaited reveal of what Modern Warfare III would be about, Shadow Siege did not disappoint. The trailer that CoD subsequently dropped saw a lot of viewership, racking up 29 million views in just two days.

On the other hand, the trailer for 2019’s Modern Warfare has 40 million views, four years on from its release. The difference in these viewership numbers goes on to show the amount of excitement for Modern Warfare III. It is not just for the release of a new Call of Duty title. Activision is bringing back several things fans loved from the original series.

Features such as voting for maps are coming. Moreover, all the multiplayer maps for this title are maps from 2009’s Modern Warfare 2. This was, for Call of Duty fans, the golden era for the franchise. Additionally, Activision is bringing back old gameplay mechanics such as the covert sneaker move as well as core multiplayer health. All of this is a nod to a time when Call of Duty fans loved jumping on multiplayer for hours.

This is not even considering two major aspects: the Campaign and the Zombies mode. With the return of Price’s old enemy Makarov and hints about the ‘No Russian’ mission coming back, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III looks set for an incredible story experience. Additionally, Zombies is coming to Modern Warfare for the first time in the history of the series. While not in the way fans wanted it, Treyarch developed the mode to give it a unique taste just for Modern Warfare III.
