Pratt and Day shared their experience of becoming their children’s heroes thanks to the movie. “We’re cool again,” said Day, “We’re back into cool dad’s status.” Charlie Day’s 11-year-old boy was especially elated to hear his dad being cast as Luigi.

Pratt said his 10-year-old son was happy he got cast in the Mario movie but is a bigger fan of Luigi than Pratt’s character Mario. “Like he plays Smash Brothers, and he’s like, ‘Dad, I own at Smash, I own everybody at Smash. And I’m Luigi. I think Luigi is a better player,’” Pratt said, “So he’s always kind of leaning against the characters that I play!” This is a similar incident for Pratt, as his son loves Captain America more than his character in the MCU.
