Cyberpunk 2077’s launch back in 2020 was not without hiccups. But some decided to push through, and those who did got a very memorable experience. A game that was full of exciting moments and some really well-written side quests
Despite all that, some could say the original story left them unfulfilled, not because it was bad per se, but because it was not up to everyone’s taste. The place where we left V was somewhat anti-climatic. Does Phantom Liberty change that?

Phantom Liberty starts with a literal bang. V is asked by a new character to enter “Dogtown,” an unlawful part of Night City that has been walled off. It has now become home to most degenerates of the world.

As V enters DogTown, they instantly witness a huge plane crash, carrying none other than the President of NUS. As part of the president’s security detail, this new character, “Songbird,” promises to rid V of that infamous relic that is slowly killing V.
As V chases the falling place and eventually ends up saving the president, our contact, “Songbird,” goes missing. Now V’s main motive is to look for her. The President repeats the infamous “It’s dangerous to go alone” and asks us to find Solomon Reed, a sleeper agent inside of Dogtown.
That agent is, of course, played by Idris Elba. As we start working with Solomon and learning the ways of Dogtown, we also start learning more and more about Solomon’s dark past.
The story goes way beyond finding a lost comrade, and it even gives players a bunch of choices to end it accordingly. One of the main endings even has a chance to change the ending of the main game if one makes some writing choices.
Gameplay
The gameplay for Phantom Liberty remains relatively the same. Only this time, CD Projekt Red has added a brand-new skill tree called the “Relic” skill tree. It helps players add much more value to their already-unlocked skills and perks. For example, some skills would unlock a player’s mantis blade’s additional abilities and much more.

These skills and perks do not unlock just by leveling up; players have to find Militech Data Terminals around Dogtown to do so.
Conclusion
If this quick review has to tell gamers one thing, that would be to just get this new DLC and experience the Cyberpunk 2077 they always desired. A much darker and well-acted story, especially by the likes of Idris and Christine Minji Chang. And let’s not forget Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand.

All these performances are accompanied by excellent visuals as well as an excellent OST. It’s very rare that such an expansion comes along that changes one’s perspective on the original game.
