Elden Ring Director Reveals How Demon Souls’ PS5 Remake Put Massive Pressure On a Crucial Team

There’s no doubt about how much anticipation is there right now for the upcoming Souls-inspired Elden Ring. It’s one of the biggest releases of 2022 and rightly so, given the constant hype around it. Well, whenever there’s hype, it also translates to immense burden, especially on the development team, of any new game. In the case of Elden Ring as well, there was a lot of pressure according to director Hidetaka Miyazaki himself.
In a recent interview, Miyazaki revealed that an iconic past project of FromSoftware posed huge pressure on the team of Elden Ring. And that old title is none other than the PS5 remake of beloved Demon Souls.

Director Hidetaka Miyazaki recently had an interview with a magazine in which he discussed various aspects of Elden Ring. While mentioning the difficulties of creating the epic dream game, he mentioned that there was heavy pressure on the graphics team of Elden Ring. That’s because, according to Miyazaki:
“Graphical fidelity is not something we put as the top priority. What we ask for on the graphics side depends on the systems and requirements of the game itself, and it takes less priority compared to the other elements of development.”

Thus, it was quite obvious to be under pressure, especially coming after the PS5 remake of Demon Souls. The director said that he could understand the situation when it came to the team handling the graphics of Elden Ring. Giving the reason, he added that the team actually put a lot of hard work to bring the best-looking game to date in the history of FromSoftware.
Following the reactions to the network testing so far, it can be said that the graphics are actually brilliant. Whoever gets a chance of playing the game, ends up praising its overall design and environments.

Furthermore, Miyazaki also revealed that despite Demon Souls being great, he hasn’t played its PS5 remake so far. Simply because he never revisits the finished games. He mentioned that he didn’t try the Demon Souls remake, as he never feels like playing his own titles.
However, he did appreciate the way the PS5 version visuals after the current generation graphical improvements. As for Elden Ring, the most anticipated game of this year is just around the corner. It will make its way next month for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox Series X|S on February 25, 2022.
