For leveling up your piloting skills faster than the main framed narrative of the game, here are four approaches to follow. All you have to do is to at least bring down 50 ships to attain the maximum level of pilot skills.

• Flight Simulation 

The first method to level up your Starfield ship piloting skills can be done at the initial phase of the game. Right after meeting the character of Sara, the first quest you get is the Old neighborhood. This quest will direct you to the Mars district in New Atlantis. Now, visit the biggest building at the place, take a left from the reception. You’ll be able to spot the UC Vanguard receptionist. Once you interact with the Vanguard receptionist, a new quest opens up called the ‘Supra Et Ultra’. Following the opening, make your move to the elevator, and sign up at the terminal. 

Players can skip the exhibition and take the next elevator directly to the flight simulator. Here’s your chance. Take as many flights as possible and they’ll directly influence your piloting skills rating in the game. It is important to note that death in the simulation has no impact on the character, as it’s a technical simulation. The flight practice would not only level up your piloting skills fast, but also help you understand the tactics of space combat. 

• Go Rogue 

Finding the flight simulation boring? Still need a boost on the pilot skills? Here’s another shortcut to level up your character as a pilot. This method should probably be used with a sub-textual warning as being the most dangerous one of all. The simple trick is, while piloting your fleet during a flight, start attacking innocent ships. Attacking as many ships as possible would increase your piloting engagement in the game. However, this would come at a cost. Once you start attacking innocent ships, you’ll be wanted by the space guardians and will be chased by the authorities. Things might escalate further and rather quickly. 

To avoid dying during the chase that might affect your character’s narrative and progress, there’s a simple hack to follow. If you feel you’re boxed up with no way to go, you can choose any other constellation system billions of light years away from your current position. You may enter and move with Garv speed. Yes, you can change your system even when engaged in a chase. Too easy? There’s an added twist to using this advantage. Using this hack would add a lot of bounty to your profile. To get rid of the bounty, either use your credits to pay them off or do your allotted jail time. 

• Random Starfield Ship Encounters 

A less rogue version of the above hack is your third technique to level up faster as a pilot. You can just initiate random ship encounters by constantly grav jumping through various systems. Interestingly, there are a few specific systems you’ll find that provide some extra leverage while making it through random ship encounters. 

• Faction Bounty Board Missions 

A more white-collar way of making your pilot skills boost is pursuing the missions assigned by faction bounty boards. You just have to head towards various faction bounty boards and you will have the choice to select missions. These include tasks like hunting down other pilots, bringing some fleets down, or chasing a ship, but for the law this time. 

Bonus Tips

• A major setting change you might want to make to get extra credits and experience for your flights as a pilot is making the difficulty very easy. Surprisingly, Starfield rewards with more experience on the lower difficulty modes. Thus, you’ll be able to level up much faster than piloting your way in the harder mode. The very easy mode will make your pursuit of destroying 50 ships comparatively a cakewalk. 

• Starfield wants your character to take some rest. For every one-hour nap your character takes on the bed of the ship, you’ll be rewarded 10 extra experience credits for 24 minutes. This will give you a cushion of some valuable minutes to make big of your piloting skills.
