The Dark Protocol event will start on October 31 and go on till November 14, giving players two weeks to enjoy the holiday season event.  Although players will get to enjoy the new game mode for 2 weeks, it will be removed from the game with no signs of the devs implementing it again.

During the event, players will get to try out the new 12 v 12 game mode called Killswitch where they will fight synthetic AI-controlled soldiers.

Killswitch mode explained

In the Killswitch mode, two teams comprising 12 players each, compete against each other. The primary goal of Killswitch involves the teams securing AOS nodes, which are objectives dispersed throughout the map, activating one by one. To earn points for their respective teams, players must enter an AOS node and maintain control of it until it’s either captured, interrupted, or handled differently. Capturing a node awards the team one point.

Players have the capability to interact with the Forge, which is Boreas’ Geist spawner, in addition to securing AOS nodes. The Forge plays a crucial role in the game mode, enabling players to deploy a small squad of AI-controlled Geists. These Geists can be strategically employed to strengthen a held point or to ambush enemy players who dare to engage them.

Once a team captures an AOS node, they earn one point and disable the captured node. The subsequent AOS node activates, initiating a race. Teams must compete to capture and hold these nodes while contending with enemy gunfire and the presence of AI-controlled Geists. The match is won by the first team to score five points.
