The end date of season 7 in Fortnite draws near, and this means the new season, season 8, is not all that far away. Season 8 will certainly bring loads of new items, weapons, and more. Furthermore, it is also expected that there will be some map changes as well. And it is very likely that these map changes will have a long-lasting impact on the game. Season 7 introduced the first alien-themed season in Fortnite. It gave players multiple alien-themed items, and this season was definitely one a lot of players will never forget. That said, there is a chance that the Mothership will come crashing down on the island in season 8. Maybe even before that. And this might change the map going forward.
Fortnite: why do people think the map will change?
The reason people believe that the map in Fortnite is going to change is because some evidence suggests that the Mothership might destroy the island. Or at least parts of it. The thing is, it has recently come to light, thanks to reliable leakers, that Dr. Slone is planning to destroy the Mothership. Unfortunately, destroying the Mothership could cause the enormous UFO to come crashing down on the island. And this, as a result, could lead to massive changes in the map.

The debris from the Mothership could damage the island. And Dr. Slone’s plan is one of the reasons people think that island might be destroyed. But, Dr. Slone’s plan isn’t the only thing that points towards big map changes the game might see in season 8.

Leakers have also found a quest that suggests that players might get a new island. Though nothing has been confirmed by the developers themselves, it is always within the realm of possibility.
