The Genshin Impact community has been busy lately, thanks to the latest 1.2 update. The developers released a new region, Dragonspine, and offered players the opportunity to claim some weapons for free. Additionally, they released a brand-new event, The Chalk Prince and the Dragon, with the update 1.2. After completing this event, players could finally try out the Festering Desire that came with some mind-boggling abilities.

However, miHoYo turned tables at the end of the event with Albedo sapping all the abilities from the sword in an instant.

The Chalk Prince and the Dragon was a very grinding event. Players had to complete limited time quests to complete the event. The event offered players the opportunity to get their hands on the event exclusive sword, Festering Desire, a splendid weapon to have in the inventory.

During the event, players got the chance to enhance the weapon with 1.5 times more than the regular EXP. The weapon even had some unique abilities which made it more useful than other weapons, especially in Dragonspine. • 35% slower freezing in the wild on Dragonspine.
• 70% more crit damage to enemies in Dragonspine.
• 50% more Scarlet Quartz damage when that item is picked up and used on Dragonspine

However, Albedo takes away all the abilities at the end of the event. Although this was almost confirmed from the start, losing a bunch of bonuses was an immense disappointment for players. It further indicates that sword will now work as a normal sword and won’t offer any more bonus in the Dragonspine region.

Will Festering Desire still be any good?

Although miHoYo took the weapon’s bonuses away, there is still no doubt that the sword is one of the best F2P weapons introduced so far. Players got a weapon enhancing bonus of 1.5x and also got to keep the sword at whatever level they have upgraded it. Moreover, users even got the opportunity to refine the weapon to level five during the event.

The Festering Desire even gives an insane sub-stat as it increases Elemental Skill DMG by 32% and Elemental Skill CRIT Rate by 12%. Regardless, it is still an outstanding weapon and can be useful on SUB DPS party member’s. All players who got their hands on the weapon are extremely lucky, as it won’t be available from now onwards.
