However, there are many people who believe having such a mid-gen upgrade is not necessary. A similar opinion was recently shared by the CEO of GTA 6 publisher Take-Two, Strauss Zelnick.

It seems like Take-Two’s CEO is not a huge fan of upgraded versions of a single console. In a media interaction, he recently expressed his honest thoughts on why something like a PS5 Pro might be irrelevant.

Sony hasn’t yet offered any official update on an upgraded variant of the current device. However, reports claim that it’s in development and might be on its way sooner than later. Well, Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick also happens to be among those who think such upgrades don’t create much of an impact.

In an interview with media outlet IGN, Mr. Zelnick revealed that the real need for mid-generation upgrades “depends on what that mid-generation upgrade would look like.” According to him, they haven’t really changed much and “aren’t all that meaningful.”

Giving his reason, he said that upgrades don’t do anything, especially when it comes to changing the way of making or selling games from the perspective of a publisher. He’s not completely wrong, though. Generally, upgrades like PS4 Pro or an Xbox One X haven’t brought any significant change to how publishers or developers make video games. They merely had improved graphics and storage compared to their base variants.

Meanwhile, talking about Take-Two’s ongoing projects, it’s secretly working on the next Grand Theft Auto. So far, there’s been no proper update from the company on the anticipated open-world title. Franchise lovers are curiously waiting for something so they can get the first look at GTA 6. However, it looks like they will have to wait a little longer.
