Head of Xbox Phil Spencer Claims “It’s Been Too Long” Since the Console Got a First-Party Exclusive

The head of gaming and Xbox at Microsoft, Phil Spencer, said it’s been quite a while since the console received a big “First-Party” game. The console has many first-party titles on its list, but the releases have been pretty low this year. Phil has shed some light on the future of first-party games on the console.
Xbox has some remarkable first-party games like Halo, Forza, Gears of war, Fallout, and many more. But the year 2022 didn’t witness many major exclusive releases on the console. There were only five games published by Xbox studios this year with only one of them will be an internally developed title.

What did Phil say about the future of First party games on Xbox?
Recently Phil was featured in an interview with Same Brain Videocast. In the interview, Phil shed light on some of the future plans for the gaming console company and shared a few inside stories. Phil teased about what the future holds for the console.

In the interview, Phile acknowledged how this year was a little too quiet in terms of in-house games. He said, “One thing we’ve definitely heard loud and clear is it’s been too long since we’ve shipped what people would say is a big first-party game.”

Phil bravely owned up to the shortcomings of the company by saying, “We can have our excuses with Covid and other things, but in the end I know people invest in our platform and they want to have great games.”
But in the end, Phil shared a ray of hope for the future of the console by saying, “We’re excited about 2023 and we’ve talked about games that are coming.” He gave a little tease by saying, “But I look at 2023 and there’s a great line-up of games coming that I’m excited about. Getting our first real Xbox first-party games out of Bethesda, having them ship with Redfall and Starfield, will be a lot of fun.”
