Ubisoft recently launched the latest installment in its highly popular sci-fi stealth action series, Assassin’s Creed. They have been working on a remake of the first Splinter Cell game for a couple of years now. A Prince of Persia game is all set to be launched in early 2024. One may ask, what about the Ghost Recon franchise? Will there be a new installment for this series?

Fans have been wondering about the future of this tactical stealth action series ever since the last game, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, did not do so well. Would the series get another chance at Ubisoft? Someone says yes; there’s indeed a chance of it happening.

There are few video game franchises that have survived multiple generations. Games like Metal Gear Solid, God of War, and Gran Turismo have grown through the years and spawned multiple entries over the course of time. Ghost Recon is one such franchise; it started life back in 2001 with Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon and was an instant success.

Its latest release was Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint in 2019. It got mixed reviews from critics and did not meet the sales expectations set by Ubisoft. While they did release a bunch of updates for it, Ubisoft never mentioned a sequel. But recently, a fan asked InsiderGaming’s Tom Henderson if he knew anything about a new game in the series, and he responded in an optimistic manner.

His reply was, “I’ve heard a few things, and they’re in development, but I’ll need a few more people to reach out and help corroborate first. I will put together a report as soon as I can.”

This means there’s a chance fans will see a new installment in the Ghost Recon series sometime in the future. Let’s wait and see how far away it actually is.

Fans may end up waiting longer than they think, though

While a new game might be in the works, fans of the series might end up waiting a little longer for this title. Given the fact that Ubisoft is currently taking it slow with their new games, they wouldn’t want to overcrowd their schedule yet again, like they earlier did. Most importantly, they would like to capitalize on the success of AC Mirage and present an even banger title for the franchise lovers of Ghost Recon. More so, they would be pulling up their socks to make amends with the disappointing performance of Breakpoint.

Moreover, they are also taking their own time with Splinter Cell. Hence, it is expected that the new Ghost Recon will only be released after Ubisoft’s next Assassin’s Creed as well as a couple of other games are done with.
